Geneva "Hazel" (Hensley) Shelton

Geneva “Hazel” Shelton, age 79, Flag Pond, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 at her residence. She is a daughter of the late Silas and Martha Blankenship Hensley.

Hazel married the love of her life, Dennis Shelton on December 26, 1956.

Hazel was a long-time faithful and devoted member of her church, Sweetwater Church of God and her church family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Shelton on November 14, 2013; two brothers: Don and Barnet Hensley; four sisters: Mafrie Rice, Nola Briggs, Dollie Crain, infant Clara Hensley.

Hazel leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons: Ricky (Kelly) Shelton of Freetown, IN, Dennis “Charlie” (Pam) Shelton of Anderson, IN; one daughter, Christa Pitts (Sonny Foster) of Hanceville, AL; nine grandchildren: James “Andrew” (Jennifer “JB”) Shelton of Anderson, IN, Zachary (Rachel) Shelton of Columbus, IN, Joseph “Matthew” (Angel) Shelton of LaPorte, IN, Pamela “Dawn” (Michael) Goodman of Anderson, IN, Kirby (John) Brooks of Bargersville, IN, Megan (Adam) Wright of Good Hope, AL, Aaron Shelton of Columbus, IN, Halee (Dakota) Holloway of Hanceville, AL, and Alexis Amori Promise Pitts of Hanceville, AL; nineteen great grandchildren, two brothers: Russell Hensley and Rex (Kay) Hensley; former son-in-law Jeff Pitts; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 27, 2020 in the Elbridge-Shelton Cemetery, Marshall, NC. Reverend Craig Shelton will officiate. Family and friends will visit at the cemetery from 1:00-2:00 PM Friday before the service.

Due to Covid-19 please bring and wear a facemask, and practice social distancing for the safety of the family and those attending.

The family would like to extend thanks to Amedisys Hospice for the special care they provided during this time, especially Nurse Becky Bennett, aides Skyler, Melissa, and Lexi.

Those who wish are asked to make memorial contributions to Sweetwater Church of God or Amedisys Hospice.
