Frances Thomason Salyer, age 74, of Erwin, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She is the daughter of the late Hugh Thomason and Glenna Reeser Orfield. Frances lived most of her life in Unicoi.
She retired from nursing several years ago. Frances attended Southside Freewill Baptist Church. She was a faithful Christian woman who loved the Lord with all her heart.
Frances’ family meant everything to her, and she was always there for them. She enjoyed cooking for her family.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Scottie Salyer in 2004; her daughter, Cindy Boyd; one brother, Allen Thomason.
Frances leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two sons: Michael Salyer of Erwin and Jonathan Salyer of Johnson City; two sisters: Glenna T. Clark and Sharon Thomason; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Salyer family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday, December 01, 2025, at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Laws officiating. Frances’ committal will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Site). Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend her committal should meet at the cemetery by 1:55 p.m. on Monday.
