Obituary
Ernest “Ernie” Banner, age 86, of Erwin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at his residence. He is a son of the late Arthur Buck Banner and Carrie Tapp Banner.
Ernie retired from the United States Air Force where he served his country honorably for over twenty-years. He was a proud Vietnam War Veteran.
Ernie loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He liked to work in his yard and take care of his flowers.
In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by an infant brother, Terry Banner; two sisters: Peggy Stockton and Margaret Tipton; three nephews and two brothers-in-law.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his niece, Donna McKinney (Tracy) of Erwin and one nephew, Perry Lee Tipton of Knoxville.
A private family graveside service will be held for Ernie in the Evergreen Cemetery.
