Emma Lee (Tipton) Rice

Emma Lee Tipton Rice, age 77, of Flag Pond, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at her residence while she was surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of Flag Pond and daughter of the late Frank and Wanda Willis Tipton.

Mrs. Rice was a homemaker, and she was of the Christian Faith. She enjoyed reading, word find puzzles, and growing a flower garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Troy “Huck” Rice; one daughter, Susie Rice Tilson; grandson, Samuel Jernigan; granddaughter, Amy Dickenson; brother, J.M. Tipton; sisters: Geneieve Rice and Charlene Shelton.

Emma Lee leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, her husband of fifty-seven years, Harvey Rice; two daughters: Frankie Jernigan (Stephen) of Houston, AL and Loretta Edwards (Earl) of Flag Pond; brother, Danny Tipton of Flag Pond; sister, Geneva Hensley (Dallas) of Flag Pond; four grandchildren: Abigail, Kathrine, Bethany and Troy; four great grandchildren: Brionna Brown, Arionna Brown, Devin Brown and PJ Brown; one great-great grandchild, CC Brown; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in the Rice-Ray Cemetery with Reverend Craig Shelton officiating. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Rice, Lewis Rice, Roger Rice, Jamie Shelton, Bill Hardin, and Stanley Silvers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday.
