Edwin "Ed" Charles Ruby

Edwin “Ed” Charles Ruby, age 77, of Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Center on Aging and Health. He was a native of Columbus, Ohio and a son of the late Charles Richard Ruby and Mildred Spencer Ruby. Ed moved to Erwin twenty-one years ago.

Ed was a proud United States Army Veteran who served his country honorably. During his time in the military, he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and Marksman (M-14) Badge. He retired from the manufacturing industry after many years of service.

Ed was a member of the Erwin Elks Lodge BPOE 1985 where he enjoyed being with his friends. He was an exceptional wood worker. Ed could fix anything and he was an avid fisherman. He was a NASCAR fan.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Shultz.

Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory, his three children: Gary Ruby (Michelle) of Unicoi, Krys Ruby of Johnson City and Kayla Ruby; three grandchildren: Charles Ruby, Thomas Ruby, and Matthew Ruby; two sisters: Rebecca Smith of Columbus, OH and Mary Germani (Bobby) of Port Charlotte, FL; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Ed’s celebration of life will be held at Erwin Elks Lodge. The date will be announced at a later time.
