E. Jolene Whitson, age 77, Erwin, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and daughter of the late Garfield Bailey and Ruth Hildred Allen Bailey.
Jolene was formerly employed at Texas Instruments for several years. She was a member of Embreeville Church of Christ. Jolene loved going to yard sales and shopping at Wal-Mart. Also, she enjoyed playing games on her computer and crocheting afghans. Jolene was an excellent cook. She made the best cornbread, soup beans, fried potatoes with onions, and delicious strawberry jam.
In addition to her parents, Jolene was preceded in death by one brother, Junior Bailey; one sister, Juanita Banner; son-in-law, Tim Coppage.
Jolene leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of fifty-nine years, Bobby Whitson; two daughters: Gina Blevins and Tina Coppage, both of Erwin; three grandchildren: Amber Gregory (Dylan), Ft. Jennings, OH, Aaron Blevins (Paige), Kingsport, Adam Coppage (Courtney), Erwin; six great grandchildren; two brothers: Charles Bailey, Erwin, and Max Bailey (Doris), Jonesborough; one sister, Loretta Edwards, Erwin; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Jolene’s graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, in the Evergreen Mausoleum. Minister Matt Fisher and Scott Phillips will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the mausoleum by 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.
