Doris "Jeanie" Jean (Roberts) Sams

Doris Jean “Jeanie” Roberts Sams, age 89, of Erwin, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 06, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Charlie and Eliza Phillips Roberts.

Doris was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and Aunt. She loved gardening, especially growing her beautiful flowers. Doris enjoyed camping, going out to eat with her family, watching the Hallmark Channel and her catus plants.

She was a homemaker and Doris was a Christian.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Jerry Roberts and Danny Sams; one daughter, Betty Gouge; grandson, Dakota Smith; two sons-in-law: Kenneth Gouge and Jeff Copeland; several brothers and sisters.

Doris leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, her five children: Willie Sams, Cora Harless, Margaret Norton (Danny), Mike Sams and Donna Copeland; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Doris’ funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Robbie Metcalf, James Harless, Dylan Norton, Devin Copeland, Danny Sams, Nathaniel Holmes, Robert Holmes, and Jacob Gouge will serve as pallbearers.

The family deeply appreciates the staff at Christian Care Center of Unicoi County for all the love and care given to Jeanie.
