Doris Arlene (Roberts) Whitson

A golden heart has stopped beating; Hardworking hands are at rest.

Doris Arlene Roberts Whitson, age 70, of Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, October 07, 2025, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Bristol, Virginia to the late Emory and Florence Graybeal Roberts. Doris was a lifelong resident of Erwin.

Doris retired from A.O. Smith after forty-nine years of service.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Billy Whitson; brothers: Tim, Jimmy, Chris, Bill Roberts and two infant brothers; sister, Rebecca McInturff.

Doris is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Danny Whitson; sons: David (Emily), Danny (April), and Joe (Jenn); daughter, Tina (Tim); sister, Kristy “Sugar” Hadley (Dia); fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; special niece, Tammy Banks; her beloved dog, Snowball.

The Whitson family will receive friends on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of Doris’ life will follow at 1:00 p.m.
