Donna Jean (Bradley) Howell

Donna Jean (Bradley) Howell, age 82, of Unicoi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Governor’s Bend Assisted Living. She is a daughter of the late Ida Ruth Bradley. Donna lived most of her life in Unicoi.

She retired from the Unicoi County School System where she served as the Board Secretary. Also, Donna was previously employed at Valley Federal Bank where she served as the Branch Manager, and she worked at Bank of Tennessee.

Donna attended Unicoi Church of God her entire life. She enjoyed volunteering in the church Food Box Ministry. Donna was a fifty-year member of the Unicoi #276 Order of the Eastern Star.

Donna’s kind heart, generosity and sweet smile brought joy to all she met. Her hobbies included traveling, cooking, sewing and growing flowers.

In addition to her mother, Donna was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Robert A. “Bob” Howell who passed away on February 28, 2016; special aunt, Willa Davis Chambers.

Donna leaves behind to cherish her memory, her three children: Diana Howell Tucker (Don) of Unicoi, Robert Howell of Greeneville, and Mariana Howell Shepherd (Justin) of Gray; three grandchildren: Hillary Howell, Erin Miller (Dylan), and Jessica Tucker; three great grandchildren: Alekzander Howell, Tucker Miller and Tanner Miller; several special cousins also survive.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and resident aides at Governor’s Bend Assisted Living, especially those who were with her in her final days. Also, they want to express their heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Hospice nurses: Becky Bennett Allen, Hannah Runion, and Kaeliegh Buchanan for the wonderful care given to Donna and her family. Becky’s daily visits meant so much to Donna and her family.

Donna’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Shepherd’s Glen (Swingle Cemetery). Reverend Eddie Blazer will officiate. Music will be provided by Damaris Higgins. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. Thursday. Interment will follow in Swingle Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of Donna to: Alzheimer’s Association and/or American Breast Cancer Foundation.
