Dianne Fletcher Obituary

Dianne Clark Fletcher moved to her eternal home in Heaven on November 16th, 2020. Mrs. Fletcher was a life-long Memphis area resident. She spent the last year of her life in East Tennessee close to her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Fletcher was born on November 4th, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee. She grew up in East Memphis with her parents and brother before her family moved to Louisville, KY. After a few years she moved back to Memphis. It was then that she would marry the love of her life, Leon, and they would start their own family. She and her husband built a home in Bartlett, where she lived for over 42 years.

Dianne was a faithful member and pastoral assistant to Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bartlett, where her and her family served and worshipped for over 25 years.

Mrs. Fletcher had a love for animals, particularly cats and dogs. She had many fond childhood memories of visiting family in the country where she and her brother enjoyed riding their Uncle’s horses. Throughout her life she was an advocate for rescues and stray animals. She enjoyed many dogs and cats as companions. Her passion for her pets was exhibited through her conversations and daily activities. Mrs. Fletcher showed her kindness through adopting many pets and giving them a loving home.

Being “Granny” to her three grandchildren brought her much joy in her later years.

Dianne was preceded in glory by her parents, Lorraine Johnson Clark, David Alexander (D.A.) Clark Sr., her son, William David (Billy) Fletcher, and her devoted and loving husband of over 30 years, Leon H. Fletcher.

Mrs. Fletcher is survived by her brother, David Alexander Clark Jr. and special sister-in-law, Martha (Louisville, Ky), her son, Robert (Bob) Wayne Fletcher and daughter-in-law, Laura Beth, and her grandchildren, Clark, Harrison, and Chloe Laine (Unicoi, Tn). Dianne’s memory will also be kept dear to her best friend, Doanne Stanford and husband Terry of Saulsbury, Tn.

The family would like to express special thanks to all who cared for Mrs. Fletcher at Preston Place 2, Asbury Place, Holston Valley Hospital, and The Life Care Center in Elizabethton over the past year. A special thanks to the staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital ICU who showed such love and grace to her in the last days of her journey to her eternal home.

A memorial service to honor her life and memories will be held at Telford United Methodist Church, date to be announced.

A memorial service for those who knew and loved Mrs. Fletcher in Memphis will be held at a later date in 2021.
