Charles Denny Chandler, age 96, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and son of the late Ezra and Nora Hensley Chandler.
Denny was a United States Army Veteran. He served his country honorably and was awarded a Victory Medal. He was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. Denny retired from Don Harris Chevrolet after twenty-seven years of service.
He enjoyed camping and watching westerns.
In addition to his parents, Denny was preceded in death by his son, Charles W. Chandler and one brother, Edgar Mack Chandler.
Denny is survived by his loving and devoted wife of seventy-six years, Ethel Tilson Chandler; two grandchildren: Shannon Chandler of Johnson City and Rachel Bennett (Jimmy) of Jonesborough; four great grandchildren: Chandler Bennett, Isabella Bennett (fiancé, Justin McCurry), Matthew Chandler, and Chance Chandler; brother, Gary Chandler (Betty) of Erwin; sister, Peggy Sue Simmons (Joe) of Hendersonville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Chandler family will receive friends on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Clear Branch Baptist Church. Reverend Albert Bentley will officiate the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Interment will follow in the Clear Branch Cemetery with Reverend Harold Lewis officiating. Active pallbearers will be Shannon Chandler, Chandler Bennett, Matthew Chandler, Chance Chandler, Jimmy Bennett, and Justin McCurry. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Chandler and Joe Simmons.
