David Whaley Obituary

David Lawrence Whaley, age 76, Erwin, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2022, while he was surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and son of the late Arnold and Artielea Bennett Whaley.

David was a United States Army Veteran. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Marksman (Rifle) Badge. David owned and operated the former Food Shop for many years. He was a member of Hulen Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Cooper and his brother, Randy Whaley.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Pam Mathes Whaley; his sister, Joy; special niece, Gaynelle; three sons: Scotty, Nathan and Thomas; other special family members also survive.

A private family graveside service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Military Honors will be rendered by DAV Chapter 39 Honor Guard.
