David Gary Berry

David Gary Berry, age 81, Erwin, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at 9:00 PM in the James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He is a son of the late Albert and Josephine Crisp Berry. David lived in Wayne, Michigan for forty years before moving to Erwin, where he lived for the past twenty-seven years.

He is a United States Army Veteran. David retired from General Motors where he was an assembly line employee for thirty-two years. He loved going to church, listening to gospel music, fishing and watching basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons: David Keith Berry, James Gregory Berry and Gary Michael Berry.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Barbara Porter Berry; one son, Dale Berry (Dottie), Wayne, MI; one daughter, Kimberly Diane Younes, Dearborn, MI; twenty grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Karl Gasser will officiate the 7:00 PM funeral service. Graveside service with military honors will be conducted on Friday at 2:00 PM in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Family will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:55 PM.
