Dart E. Phillips, Sr., age 65, Unicoi, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus on Wednesday morning, June 22, 2022, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was at his home with his loving Darlene when he passed away. Dart was born in South Williamson, Kentucky on August 12, 1956, to the late Don and Colleen Varney Phillips. He moved to Unicoi in 2001.
Dart was a retired Coal Truck Driver. He drove coal trucks for different companies for fifteen years. Dart was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ. He loved God with all his heart, and he enjoyed singing hymns from his old hymnals, reading, and studying his Bible.
Dart was a loving and devoted family man, always putting the needs of his family first and making sure they were taken care of. He loved watching a variety of sports. Dart took great pleasure in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He liked to fish, feed the birds and squirrels at his house. Dart enjoyed taking Darlene to the dinner shows in Pigeon Forge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn Lynn Cantrell Phillips on October 9, 2005; one nephew, Eric Phillips.
Dart leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted companion for fifteen years, Darlene Wall; his children: Dart E. Phillips, Jr. (Brandy) and Jayne Aaron Phillips, all of Canada, KY; stepson, Richard Allen Rowe; seven grandchildren: Shyla Phillips, Riley Phillips, Jenna Grace Thacker, Leah Shay Thacker, Kevin Lukas Thacker, Eli Breyer Mullins and Ishmael Bryant Mullins; brother, Gene H. Phillips, Pikeville, KY; sisters: Debbie Blackburn (Roy), Gloster, OH and Patricia Dean (Tim), South Williamson, KY; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Dart’s family will receive friends on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Preacher Dennis Wall will officiate the 7:00 p.m. service. Committal will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday.
