Daniel Eugene "Big Daddy" Bailey

Daniel Eugene “Big Daddy” Bailey, age 56, Erwin, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at his residence. He is the son of the late Junior R. Bailey and Shirley Ann Henley Bailey. He was a life-long resident of Unicoi County.

Daniel was retired from CSX Railroad after twenty-six years of service as a carman. He was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church.

Daniel was an avid UT Vols Fan and enjoyed playing golf, camping and spending time with family and friends. He cherished his dog, Bogey.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hildred and Garfield Bailey; maternal grandparents, Vance and Hazel Henley; mother-in-law, Nancy Metcalf; sister-in-law, Debbie Edwards.

Daniel leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of thirty-six years, Rena Bailey; his son, Austin Daniel “Pup” Bailey and fiancé, Felisha Bryant; special son, Colton White; one sister, Donna “Tink” Bailey Griffith and husband, David “Doc”; nephew, Dylan Guy Griffith; father-in-law, Jack Metcalf; brother-in-law, David Metcalf and wife, Christie; two sisters-in-law: Judy Whitson and Donna Garland and husband, Tony; several special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends including his CSX Family also survive.

A Celebration of Daniel’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 13, 2020 at his favorite place “The Camper” by the creek located behind 1425 Rock Creek Road. Dylan Griffith and Reverend Garland James will officiate.
