Cynthia Ann Yarber, age 54, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formerly of Erwin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at her residence. She was born and raised in Erwin and a daughter of Jack Yarber, Jr. and Elizabeth Dayton Yarber.
Cynthia graduated from Unicoi County High School in 1989. She was a member of the UCHS Marching Band.
Cynthia was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. During her teenage years she was very active in the youth group and sang in the youth choir.
She worked as a CNA for several years. Cynthia moved to Philadelphia nineteen years ago.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jack Yarber, Sr. and Beulah Campbell Yarber; maternal grandparents, Floyd Dayton and Gladys Hutchins Dayton; infant daughter; and her Aunt Betty Yarber.
Cynthia leaves behind to cherish her memory, her parents, Jack Yarber, Jr. and Elizabeth Dayton Yarber of Erwin; two children: Skyler Yarber (fiancé, Austin) of Murfreesboro and Zachary Smith of Philadelphia; Uncles: Larry Yarber (Cathy) of Unicoi, Hubert Yarber of Unicoi, Boots Yarber (Tammy) of Kingsport, and Tim Yarber (Glenda) of Unicoi; Aunt Doris Jean Tipton of Stewartstown, PA; special friend since childhood, Donnette Hahn of Erwin; several cousins also survive.
Cynthia’s graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026 in the McInturff-Barnett Cemetery. Pastor Kevin Laws will officiate. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m. on Friday.
