Conway Sams

Conway Sams, age 62, of Erwin, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 09, 2026, at Lifecare of Gray. He is a son of the late Cling Sams and Oleene Willis Sams. Conway was a lifelong resident of the Coffee Ridge Community in Erwin.

Conway loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He was always helping his family out with whatever they needed.

Conway graduated from Unicoi County High School where he excelled in Pole Vaulting. His hobbies included goldmining, riding motorcycles and spending time outdoors.

In addition to his parents, Conway was preceded in death by two brothers: Dallas Eugene Willis and Nickle Sams.

Conway is survived by his siblings: Lorraine Lane (Allen) of Erwin, Rozina McKinney of Elizabethton, Freddie Sams (Joyce) of Unicoi, and David Sams (Trula) of the Coffee Ridge Community; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Conway’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Lifecare of Gray for the excellent care given to Conway and his family.

Per Conway’s wishes there will be no services held.
