Connie Elwanda (Young) Richardson

Connie Elwanda Young Richardson, age 79, of Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Oglethorpe County, Georgia and a daughter of the late Claude Everette Young and Mary Frances Wilson Young Welch.

Connie lived most of her life in Unicoi County. She was a homemaker.

Connie was an excellent cook and seamstress. She enjoyed coloring, listening to the radio, gardening, and tending to her flower beds. In her younger years, Connie enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses.

In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Robert Gus Richardson, on July 10, 2003; siblings: Pat Sloan, Betty Jane Bray, Theresa Fowler, Dwayne Welch, and Toby Welch.

Connie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her four children: Becky Davis of Buladean, NC, Blake Richardson (Katie) of Flag Pond, Keith Richardson (Jessica) of Candler, NC and Harry Joe Richardson (Crystal) of Erwin; brother, Allen Welch of Oglethorpe County, GA; twenty-eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Connie’s graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 07, 2026, in Miller Cemetery. Preacher Tim Bellamy will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
