Christy Lynn (Cooper) Edwards

Christy Lynn Cooper Edwards, age 55, of Erwin, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, while she was surrounded by her loving family at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and daughter of the late George P. Cooper and Janice Faye Tipton Cooper.

Christy attended Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed teaching Children’s Church. Christy played and sang gospel music with her husband, Calvin.

She adored spending time with her grandson, Cooper who was the apple of her eye! Christy liked decorating her home and crafting.

In addition to her parents, Christy was preceded in death by her brother, Curtis L. Cooper.

Christy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Calvin Edwards; her daughter, Hannah Runnion (Dylan) of Erwin; grandson, Cooper Pate; her beloved Schnauzer, Baby; several other extended family members and friends also survive.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Amedisys Hospice, especially Becky Bennett Allen and everyone who has helped the family through this very difficult time.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church. Christy’s memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Reed Bagby, Pastor Kevin Laws, and Pastor Willie Vance officiating. Music will be provided by The Banks Family and Cathy Griffith.
