Christopher "Chris" Dean Thompson

Christopher “Chris” Dean Thompson, age 64, of Erwin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and son of the late Albert Dean Thompson and Margie Gilbert Thompson.

Chris was formerly employed at Specialty Tire Plant where he worked as a supervisor. He attended Unicoi Methodist Church.

Chris loved being a grandfather, playing golf and collecting coins.

In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-seven years, Diana Whitson Thompson on April 23, 2021, and his father-in-law, Zane Whitson.

Chris leaves behind to cherish his memory, his three children: Emmie Thompson Burger (Ryan) of Unicoi, Zachary Thompson of Unicoi, and Brock Thompson (Kylee Mullins) of Elizabethton; grandchildren: Paizlee Burger, Knox Burger, Tatum Thompson, Scotti Burger, Jaxon Thompson, and Jarrett Hicks; brother, Todd Thompson (Jane) of Flag Pond; mother-in-law, Di Whitson; his little dog, Simba.

Private family services will be held.
