Carrick “Tick” Robert Osborne, age 87 of Unicoi, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at his residence while he was surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi and a son of the late Alonzo Milton Osborne and Goldie Mae Hodges Osborne. His nickname was Tick, which began as a child and remained with him throughout the rest of his life.
Tick worked at Phillips 66 Service Station in Unicoi for Clyde Blevins as a Mechanic. He left the service station to begin his career with Nuclear Fuel Services where he remained for thirty-eight years until he retired in 2000. Tick was fortunate enough to enjoy twenty-five years as a retiree, which is rare!
During his retirement years he enjoyed watching NASCAR and his favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He also liked going to yard sales. Tick was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his parents, Tick was preceded in death by his brothers: Ivan and Willard Osborne; three sisters: Jeanetta Arwood (Carl), Virginia Jenkins, and Marie Bryant (Burgess).
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Gladys Garland Osborne; his daughter, Nancy Osborne; his son, Steven Osborne; grandson, Steve Jones and his little grand dog, Dolly Jolene Osborne, all of Unicoi; one brother, Dale Osborne (Sue) of Belgrade, MT; sister, Shirley Street (Arrighi) of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Osborne family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 03, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Unicoi Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Campbell will officiate the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Music will be provided by Linda Ayers and Jamie Black. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Britt, Ricky Sutphin, Buddy Osborne, Randall Osborne, Tracy Harvey, Travis Harvey, Johnny Harvey, and Michael Ruble.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion from Dr. Charles Miller and his staff at Unaka Internal Medicine as well as the Gentiva Hospice staff who went above and beyond to ensure Carrick’s comfort.
