Flag Pond, TN - Broyate Royal Williams Sr., age 74, of Flag Pond Tennessee, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, in Johnson City. He was a native of Flag Pond and son of the late Mavis Williams and Bud Williams. Broyate spent his entire life living in the area aside from a few years being stationed in Fort Bragg while serving in the military.
Broyate served his country honorably in the Air Force from 1970-1974. While in the service, he worked as a mechanic. After getting out of the Air Force, Broyate worked at Hoover Ball located in Erwin creating ball bearings.
Broyate spent the rest of his life diligently caring for his grandchildren and the rest of his family members. Always doing anything he could to help whether it was babysitting, helping with yard work, driving to and from appointments, or just spending good quality time with loved ones.
He was also preceded in death by his sister Bobbie Shelton and his first wife, Judy Ann Williams (d. 1990), with whom he had his only child, Broyate Royal Williams Jr. (Roy).
His Survivors include his second wife: Alice Williams; his son, Roy Williams and wife, Andrea Williams; his grandchildren: Austin, Drew, and Savanna Williams; his brothers: Terry Williams, and Bud J. Williams; his sisters: Jaqueline Hale, and Judy Ayers.
There will be no formal funeral service or receiving of friends due to personal wishes. In lieu of flowers, Broyate would rather have people donate to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org
