Brady Lee Bailey, age 78, Erwin, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, January 03, 2023, while he was surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of Erwin and son of the late Jesse Bailey and Martha Evelyn Huskins Bailey.
Brady was a proud United States Air Force Veteran having served his country honorably during Vietnam. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Brady was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Erwin Masonic Lodge #491 F&AM, and Jericho Shrine Temple.
He retired as an Independent Truck Driver after thirty-five years. Brady was a talented artist and a master woodworker. He loved oil painting, sketching, building cabinets and furniture. Brady also enjoyed restoring classic cars.
In addition to his parents, Brady is preceded in death by his grandma, Bathilda Harris Bailey.
Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of fifty-one years, Evalena “Tina” Gillenwater Bailey; daughter, Kayla Lucinda Gillenwater, Boones Creek; sister-in-law, Peggy Joe Gillenwater Quillen, Ft. Blackmore, VA; brother-in-law, Douglas Gillenwater, Erwin; nieces: Lisa Wells, Gate City, VA and Katy Logan, Johnson City; nephews: Lee Gillenwater and John P. Gillenwater, both of Erwin, Tony Quillen, Gate City, VA; five great nieces and nephews; nine great-great nieces and nephews; special friend, Terry Keesee; special god daughter, Jessica Satterfield and husband, Caleb and son, Levi of Greeneville, SC.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the funeral home chapel. Pastor Jeff Autrey and Pastor Daniel Norton will officiate the 2:00 p.m funeral service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Military Honors will be rendered by DAV Chapter 39 Honor Guard.
