Billy “Bill” Joe Lemmon, age 71, of Erwin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Center on Aging and Health while he was surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of Erwin and son of the late Donald Ira Lemmon and Virginia Faye Lewis Lemmon.
Bill was a United States Navy Veteran, having served his country honorably. He was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church.
Bill was a Supervisor at NN Ball & Roller for many years before he retired. He loved the mountains, hunting, fishing, and his pets. Bill was an avid University of Tennessee sports fan.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Bill loved his family dearly.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Lemmon; one sister, Irene Lemmon; two sisters-in-law: Cynthia Lemmon and Barbara King.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-four years, Cecilia Wilson Lemmon; his two daughters: Jessica Duncan (Terry) and Katie Tipton (Jason), all of Erwin; two grandsons, whom he adored: Blake Duncan and Trent Tipton; brother, Ira Lemmon (Debbie) of Unicoi; sister, Becky Thompson (David) of Jonesborough; two sisters-in-law: Carolyn Hensley and Linda Banks (Bobby) ; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 01, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Todd McLaughlin will officiate Bill’s 12:00 p.m. funeral service. Committal will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Site). Military honors will be rendered by DAV Chapter 39 Honor Guard. Trent Tipton, Blake Duncan, Terry Duncan, and Jason Tipton will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend Bill's committal are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:55 p.m. on Thursday.
