Betty Jean (Osburn) Garland

Betty Jean Osburn Garland, age 87, of Unicoi, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Thursday, January 11, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi and a daughter of the late Walter and Ruth McInturff Osburn.

Betty retired from White’s Grocery where she worked as a service desk clerk for many years. She is a member of Unicoi United Methodist Church.

Betty enjoyed working in her yard, tending to her flowers, working jigsaw puzzles, playing games on her iPad and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, D.J. Garland in 1966; two sons: Daniel “Danny” Garland and Manuel “Manny” Garland.

Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, David Garland and wife, Beverly of Knoxville; two sisters: Frances “Tanny” Ray (David) and Carolyn Harris; her best furry friend, Amber; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
