Betty Mae Hardin Bailey, age 85, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, January 09, 2025, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She is a daughter of the late Donald and Nola Edney Hardin. Betty lived most of her life in Unicoi County.
She retired from Hoover Ball after many years of service as an Inspector. Betty is a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church.
Betty enjoyed cooking, watching TV, NFL Football, Atlanta Braves, UT Vols, and her dog, Sassy.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Harold Bailey; one son, Brian Bailey; three brothers: Bill Hardin, Vernon Hardin, and Hubert Hardin; sister, Dorothy Sawyer.
Survivors include her two children: Kathy Hensley (Mike) of Unicoi, and Chris Bailey of Erwin; six grandchildren: Heather Stanford, Justin Bennett, Paige Williams (Brad), Adam Hensley, Lucas Bailey, and Zoey Bailey; six great grandchildren: Cadence Standford, Emersyn Stanford, Payton Williams, Ava Williams, Sean Williams, and Easton Bennett; three brothers: Howard Hardin (Kathy), Dwight Hardin, and Gary Hardin; one sister, Ann Carathers; her dog, which was her best friend and protector, Sassy; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in the Evergreen Mausoleum. Pastor Kevin Laws will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at the Evergreen Mausoleum by 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
