Barbara Ann (Romans) Hopson

Barbara Ann Romans Hopson, age 76, of Jonesborough, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Ballad Health Hospice House after a lengthy illness. She is a daughter of the late Charles C. Romans and Hazel Osborne Romans.

Barbara enjoyed being a homemaker and a devoted Army wife. She supported her husband through two tours in Vietnam and spent a decade abroad with her children and husband during active duty. She not only supported her husband’s career but also made many memories with her children while living abroad. Barbara had an outgoing personality and didn’t mind telling you exactly what she thought.

Throughout her life she enjoyed creative outlets such as cake decorating, crocheting, painting, and making quilts.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Charles Kevin Hopson on October 24, 2002, and one brother, Larry Romans.

Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of sixty years, SGM Wayne Wright Hopson; three children: Michael Wayne Hopson, of Kentucky, Catrina Marie Hopson Herd, of Nashville, and Keith Allen Hopson, of Bristol; five grandchildren: Charles Kaleb Hopson, Brittany Marie Hopson, Angelina Brianne Keck, Emily Hopson Baddley, Spencer Herd, and Holden Herd; two great granddaughters: Eliza Rose Keck and Paisley Nicole Becquer; one brother, Dr. Alan Romans; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The Hopson family will receive friends on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Barbara’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. and will be officiated by her brother-in-law, Don Hopson. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. The active pallbearers will be Alan Hawkins, Shawn Hopson, Jayme Hopson, Chris Hopson, Jason Hopson, and Daniel Hopson. Unicoi Methodist Church will be graciously providing a memorable meal at Unicoi Baptist Church directly after the committal. The family hopes everyone will come celebrating Barbara’s life while enjoying a nice meal.
