Ann Louise (Higgins) McIntosh

Ann Louise Higgins McIntosh, age 87, Erwin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She lived most of her life in Erwin and was a daughter of the late Mark Higgins and Ida Hensley Edwards.

Ann retired from Morrill Motors where she was employed in the production department. She was previously employed as a CNA at Erwin Health Care Center. Ann was of the Baptist Faith.

She loved her grandchildren dearly and treasured spending time with all of them; they were the light of her life. Ann had a remarkably close relationship with her sisters. Since Ann was one of the older siblings, she helped raise her younger brothers and sisters. Ann enjoyed cooking large family meals. Springtime was Ann’s favorite season, and she enjoyed the warmer months. Ann liked to travel, especially going to the beach. She had a green thumb and loved tending to her numerous house plants. Ann had a generous heart for taking care of her family and others.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Michael Ammons in 1999; three brothers: Frank, Alvin and Ralph Higgins.

Ann leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, Frank “Frankie” McIntosh (Kelly), Knoxville; one daughter, who became her caregiver, Jaqueline “Jackie” Ann McIntosh, Erwin; five grandchildren: Justin Rigsbee, John Lancaster, Jessica Lancaster Kellar, Laic McIntosh and Teagan McIntosh; three great grandchildren; two sisters: Patricia McKinney, Erwin and Stella Horning (Fred), Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A family visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM in the Evergreen Cemetery.
