Alvin Hensley, age 70, of Afton, formerly of Unicoi County, passed away on Saturday, March 07, 2026, at the Greeneville Community Hospital West. He is a son of the late Donald Hensley and Eula Shelton Hensley. Alvin lived most of his life in Unicoi County before moving to Greene County.
He retired from logging after forty years of service. Alvin was formerly employed by Giles Shelton Sawmill.
Alvin was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed camping with his grandchildren and walking his dog in the woods.
In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his son, James Alvin Hensley, his daughter, Crystal Rose Hensley and his brother, Arville Hensley.
Alvin leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of twenty-six years, Charlotte King Hensley; one daughter, Alissia Hensley (Haskell Payne) of Chuckey; grandchildren: Natosha Lawson (Garrett), Travis Fowler (Courtney), Autumn Knight (Tyler), and Madisyn Whittemore; six great grandchildren: Bentley Fowler, Axel Fowler, Emilia Lawson, Beau Lawson, Anakin McCormick, and Lelaina McCormick; two brothers: Arnold Hensley (Sheila), and James Brown Hensley; sister, Kathleen Conduff; his dog, Littlun; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Hensley family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the funeral home. Alvin’s funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Preacher Jimmy Dean Hensley officiating. Music will be provided by Preacher Jimmy Dean and Kathy Hensley. Interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery, Chuckey. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
