Allene (Love) Gilbert

Allene Love Gilbert, age 93, Johnson City, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. She was born in Erwin to the late Syrom Alfred Love and Coma Hopson Love. After Allene married in 1947, she and her husband, Clifford lived most of their life in Johnson City.

She was a member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church in Johnson City. Throughout her life, Allene was a very active member in the church. Allene retired from Johnson City Specialty Hospital where she worked as an LPN for many years.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed tending her flowers. Allene was a great cook and she loved spending time with her family. Also, she liked to crochet.

In addition to her parents, Allene was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-nine years, Clifford Gilbert on February 21, 2017; her son, Clifford Gregory Gilbert; her daughter, Carla Love Cameron; one brother, Bud Alfred Love and one sister, Linda Ross.

Allene is survived by her two granddaughters: Rachel Lambert (Travis) of Bluff City and Lauren Lightfoot (James) of Huntsville, AL; four great granddaughters: Ava Kate Lambert, Stella Lambert, Kaia Lightfoot and Gabby Lightfoot; her sister, Gerry and husband, Bob of Fairfax, VA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Allene’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, in the Evergreen Mausoleum. Pastor Wayne Lambert will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow.
